Asinara is one of the wildest and most authentic places in northern Sardinia. An island shaped by silence, wind, sea and untouched nature, offering a unique setting for couples dreaming of a wedding far from traditional venues.

 

This photography project was created to explore Asinara as inspiration for a destination wedding in Sardinia: an intimate celebration immersed in nature and centred around the couple, their emotions and the landscape.

 

I have always been deeply connected to my homeland, and Sardinia’s colours are a constant source of inspiration for my photography. The turquoise sea, juniper trees, the scent of helichrysum, white beaches and sunset light naturally become part of the visual story.

 

As a wedding photographer in Sardinia, I am always looking for places that can add meaning to a story without overwhelming it. Asinara is one of those places. It is not simply a wedding location, but an island to experience and discover.

 

Over three days of shooting, we explored different parts of the island while creating photography, film and aerial footage inspired by a couple who love nature, adventure and freedom.

 

The project also reflects the extraordinary history of Asinara, from its past as a quarantine station and maximum-security prison to its transformation into a National Park and Marine Protected Area.

 

Wedding photography and film allow us to tell more than the visual side of a celebration. They can preserve the relationship between people and the place they have chosen to experience together.
